The Teaching & Learning Librarians have two resources for the campus community offering guidance on using (or not!) generative AI tools.
The Students' Guide for AI includes general AI guidance, how to evaluate AI output, and how AI fits within the Student Scholar Research Process. We offer advice on how to navigate the AI ecosystem and make decisions about if, when, and how to use it.
Let’s set the scene: It’s the spring semester. Heat waves ripple throughout campus, and you have a gap between classes with nowhere to sit in the shade. You find a spot under a tree, but don’t want to sit directly on the ground. Defeated, you walk away.

Are you teaching a class that doesn't require students to purchase any textbooks or course materials?
If so, please report your Zero Cost Course Materials (ZCCM) courses to the CALM Team. You can submit your courses by emailing calm@csusm.edu or using the ZCCM Reporting Form.
What is considered ZCCM?
The Reading Room is located in KEL 5400 and provides a quiet study space for all students during library hours. This space can also be used as a venue to host events.

The CSUSM University Library has received the 2025 Library Excellence in Access and Diversity (LEAD) Award from Insight Into Diversity magazine. The Award honors academic libraries’ programs and initiatives that support inclusive excellence and belonging on their campus. The CSUSM Library was honored for the second year in a row and will be featured, along with 33 other recipients, in the March 2025 issue of Insight Into Diversity magazine.
