Let’s set the scene: It’s the spring semester. Heat waves ripple throughout campus, and you have a gap between classes with nowhere to sit in the shade. You find a spot under a tree, but don’t want to sit directly on the ground. Defeated, you walk away.
Fret no more because the library now has “things” you can check out, like picnic blankets, foldable chairs, and fans. This past year, the University Library’s Student Advisory Board (SAB) worked on expanding our circulating items, including items you might not expect in an academic library. Learn more about the new “things” available for checkout, as well as more about the SAB below.
New “Things”
The SAB added a range of items to our collection, from "things" to support your academic success to “things” that support leisure activities and exploration. For information on our borrowing policies and durations, visit the library equipment webpage.

Student Advisory Board
The University Library’s Student Advisory Board is a group of CSUSM students and library employees that work together to improve student experiences of library services, technology, collections, and spaces (physical and virtual). SAB student member input and constructive feedback helps to re/design and implement library services and spaces influenced by what is important to them and their peers.
During the 24-25 academic year, SAB members worked on adding new items listed above to our collection!
